About the Artist
I was born in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Saint Petersburg is city of visual art, music and science. When you live in such environment you just have to become an artist or musician or scientist.
I was grateful to my father, who introduced me to the Hermitage Museum – one of the most famous museums in the world. I very soon realised that is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life - create. First, I studied in a children art school and afterwards finished at an Art Institute. After that, I worked as a graphic designer and fashion designer.
I arrived in Australia 25 years ago. Here I study computer graphic design and continue to draw and paint. After many years I returned to making etching, which I enjoy very much. I double my enjoyment by choosing Australian animals, as I love them too.
My first years in Australia were enormously difficult: a new country, new culture, and new language. After I relocated to Brisbane, I had to find a job and study English at the same time. As soon as my English got better, I was accepted into a graphic design course at TAFE. There, I developed my computer design skills.
After I finished the course I was very enthusiastic about quitting my cleaning job and finding a graphic design work. That took a lot of time and energy.
Nowadays, I paint, draw or print every day of my life and I could not wish for anything better.
