Lee-Ann (Lee) Dennis - Goddess of the Sea
Paper Yarn
70 x 62
NFS
Mandala style wall piece utilising the open-paired twining technique. I find these wall pieces come to life during their creation. The delicate nature of the paper yarn allows for an organic feeling of rhythmic movement that evokes memories of something you've glimpsed before.
About the Artist
Lee discovered her love of fibre art in 2021. In 2023, after a diagnosis that effects her hands, she transformed her commitment to herself and undertook an online weaving for fibre sculpture course.
Driven by her desire to move through life engaging her senses, slow down and spend time experiencing her activities and collaborations, Lee began volunteering in 2024. She continues to enjoy sharing her skills and building community as a volunteer co-facilitator for a weekly weaving circle with vulnerable women.
Lee comes from a longline of creative women. Her love of nature and eye for the aesthetic allow her to be receptive and present through contemporary weaving. She is currently exploring and creating with a variety of paper yarns, twines, and strings.
