Alexandra Ellen

Transplanted  2021

mixed media

This artwork is oil pastel and watercolour on mixed media paper mounted onto a canvas.

This tree has been transplanted to another planet. Sometimes, in order to Shine Loud, we must change and grow in new places, with new people, doing new things.

About Alexandra Ellen:

Alexandra Ellen is a Brisbane based theatre maker and visual artist. She takes a multidisciplinary approach to her artistic practice which crosses form. She aims to educate, challenge, expose, encourage and delight.

Alexandra is a visual artist and a member of Access Arts visual arts BOA program. Her visual arts practice can be described as expressive and intuitive, leaning towards mixed media and experimenting with materials and technique. Over the last 4 years, she has contributed to many collaborative exhibitions, including being a shortlisted for Art From The Margins’ Outsider Art Awards. She also curated her first solo exhibition Outside Inside in 2019.

Alexandra Ellen is also the Artistic Associate at indelabilityarts and has been a member of the professional ensemble since 2017. Alexandra is currently in development for disability led work, Betsy and I, a performance piece which includes her visual art. Alexandra was the 2020 Access Arts Achievement Award recipient.

For Alexandra, to Shine Loud is to continually grow and develop. As we grow, we become more assured in who we are and who we are becoming. It’s about growing into the people we were created to be. Growing takes self-awareness and when we know who we are and where we’re growing, we can Shine Loud and be our true selves.
