This series tells a story of metamorphosis, showing the journey of a dandelion growing in a field. The title Matryoshka (also known as Russian Dolls) also refers to the way the canvases journey from biggest to smallest when arranged in order.

Annika and Tom collaborated in painting these works, guided a story they agreed upon. We are shown flowers growing in a field. Someone comes along and picks a flower. We see all the colours and lines of the flower up close. Eventually, its seeds fly away into the sky.

These works were created especially for Annika and Tom's joint exhibition, When Two Worlds Meet.
