About Robin McKenzie
I grew up in the Northwest corner of Washington state which gave me a deep appreciation for the beauty of God’s creation and inspiration for scenes to paint. Moved to Australia 27 years ago. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease four and a half years ago. A year and a half ago my daughter and I started painting as something to do together on Skype. One thing that helped us greatly was the 70% rule: not to aim for perfection, as that would destroy the joy, but to settle for 70%.
I enjoy watercolour painting because I like taking a blank piece of paper and bringing it to life with beautiful colours and thoughts. Though I have Parkinson's disease, painting can never be taken away from me. My style may become freer, but I still will be able to create. I currently am enjoying painting funny birds, the beauty of God’s creation, and bringing Psalms to life.
