Trapped by anger, violence, and blame,
Unwanted touch, sex, and non-consensual shame.
Trapped by those who truly do love me,
Who continue through life so ignorantly.
Trapped by a body, so imperfect and aged,
The more I find out, the more I feel caged.
Trapped by the patriarchy, by expectations of the world,
Trapped, a target, again left unheard.
About the Artist
Candice is an emerging multimedia artist. She is currently working toward her first solo exhibition, which will be held at Art From The Margins Gallery in 2025.
