When I used to go on holidays, I used to see these pluckers plucking tea leaves early in the morning. They were very friendly people. It was cold and they walked bare feet, but they still had a friendly smile. They picked a lot of leaves for the factory. It was at a time when Sri Lanka was ruled by the British.

About the artist – Deidre Wilkins

Deidre has always been a creative – as well as crafting colourful gift cards quite recently, she was also a professional cake decorator for weddings and birthdays in her earlier days.

After studying at TAFE in Sydney, she enrolled at The Wilton School, a recognised novelty cake decorating school, in the USA! With an interest in visual art, Deidre tried painting only 5 years ago – she was instantly hooked.

Today, Deidre is a prolific and impassioned painter, devoting countless hours at her professional setup creating vivid and stirring images on canvas. Her vibrant artwork is primarily acrylics touched with assorted mediums and finished with paint pens. She favours depicting landscapes that awaken fond memories of her time growing up in Sri Lanka.
