In Sri Lanka, these flowers grew where I lived. We used them as a fence. They are so beautiful. I took cuttings of them to use in my Ikebana class.
Most hotels use these flowers for their flower arrangements.
About the artist
Deidre has always been a creative – as well as crafting colourful gift cards quite recently, she was also a professional cake decorator for weddings and birthdays in her earlier days.
After studying at TAFE in Sydney, she enrolled at The Wilton School, a recognised novelty cake decorating school, in the USA! With an interest in visual art, Deidre tried painting only 5 years ago – she was instantly hooked.
Today, Deidre is a prolific and impassioned painter, devoting countless hours at her professional setup creating vivid and stirring images on canvas. Her vibrant artwork is primarily acrylics touched with assorted mediums and finished with paint pens. She favours depicting landscapes that awaken fond memories of her time growing up in Sri Lanka.
