Magdalena (Katka's middle name) is a portrait of her childhood self. At that time, Katka endured trauma which lay quietly dormant within her for many years. In 2014 her childhood experiences resurfaced in vivid detail with unstoppable force and she developed post-traumatic stress disorder. With courage and strength, Katka processed the suffering that she had been unable to deal with as a child. Producing art played a powerful role in the healing process. In this work, Katka depicts burning incense and marigolds as symbols for purification and healing.
