The biggest lesson that we have learnt is that life isn’t always a bed of roses. Covid has made this saying a stark reality. There’s a are sufficient number of unpleasant things to deal with along with the pleasant ones.
My artistic mind thus brought this thought into reality on canvas. My work depicts a tree showing both the aspects of life. The tree is lush and green on one side and touches the beautiful ocean waves and waterfilled clouds. Water signifies life juxtaposed against a barren dried desert depicting thirst, hunger and disease.
So as said by Irving Berlin: “There may be trouble ahead but while there’s music, moonlight, love and romance, let's face the music and dance!"

This is the amazing story of Nilima, i.e. me, who picked up the brush, paints and canvas at the age of 60+, on making Australia my retirement country. Art came to me naturally, and there was no looking back! A nine-year journey has seen my artworks displayed in Brisbane City Hall, upmarket cafes in West End, at St. Vincent Hospital, various AFTM exhibits and St. Andrews War Memorial Hospital. There have been many highlights in my journey of art practice and exhibiting including being selected to be part of United Artist’s Project; the honour of having my SOLO ART EXHIBITION TOO!
