Nilima Harjal - Full Moon Sail: Personal Experience

Full Moon Sail: Personal Experience 2022
acrylic on canvas
30.5H x 30.5 W cm
This painting is based on a personal life experience. It is thrilling to enjoy a sail on the vast River Ganges in India on a full moon night. The reflection of the moon across the vast river expanse was simply stunning! It is one of those rare visual experiences where neither picture nor words will do it justice. It is all about soaking the peace of the surroundings amidst the sound of the waves. I have interpreted this unforgettable experience on canvas in my piece. In Indian culture it is said it is a good omen to have the River Ganges displayed on a wall.
Nilima Harjal
This is the amazing story of Nilima, i.e. me, who picked up the brush, paints and canvas at the age of 60+, on making Australia my retirement country. Art came to me naturally, and there was no looking back! A nine-year journey has seen my artworks displayed in Brisbane City Hall, upmarket cafes in West End, at St. Vincent Hospital, various AFTM exhibits and St. Andrews War Memorial Hospital. There have been many highlights in my journey of art practice and exhibiting including being selected to be part of United Artist’s Project; the honour of having my SOLO ART EXHIBITION TOO!
